According to legend, an Ethiopian goatherd hopped after eating coffee cherries and spring together with his goats. Coffee was a beverage for African tribesmen. Everywhere in the world is selling coffee. All 50 exporting countries rely upon coffee as a major source of income. Million of people depend upon it on living. A frost damaged half of the country’s three billion coffee trees. In 1979, frost hit Brazil again. Loss of a single tree means the loss of income on that spot for the three to five years it takes to replace it. 15 million trees were lost. Brazil stops all shipments of coffee. Farmers rush in to plant as prices rose. Coffee was too much and prices fall. Farmers tear up their plants and put in more stable crops. Producers and consumers agree that the only sensible solution is to limit output to what the market can absorb, have a reserve.

MEMORIES
“Why things happened in these ways? God please have mercy on us!”, cried Rijwan intensively as everywhere was disasters and Rijwan would hide under the bamboo table whenever there was gunshot and rioting. “I can't believe my eyes, that I am seeing these.” Rijwan exclaimed horribly in a stunned look. River turned red and everywhere was on fire and dead body could be seen lying on the street. “How I wish that days will go just like the past.” Rijwan chanted as he pleaded to the god. In the past, the villagers looked happy and satisfied and everything was very peaceful. The river flows gently and Rijwan will stroll along the river with his parents. But soon, horrors came.
Many conflicts started to come by. And unfortunately, Rijwan family was also affected. His parents were shocked upon hearing that they had not been granted the citizenship. Rijwan and his family had felt discriminated. Rijwan and his family soon heard about the new university admission criteria. "I cannot believe it! They are too much!” Rijwan said unbelievably as he punch the wall with his knuckles. All of them were shocked and stunned upon hearing the terrible news. One of the criteria was that the pupils must be Sinhalese and the second criteria was that the pupils must be Ceylon citizen. Rijwan was heartbroken and angry at the same time after knowing it, as he studied very hard to get into university. That was not all, the official language had been changed to Sinhalese. This made the Tamils even hard to survive under the economies. Rijwan had to give up his hopes of entering the university as he was a Tamil.
"What should we do?" said one of the Tamil villagers in a confused look. After the discussions, all of the male decided to join the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam. They also decided to join the rioting against the government forces to gain independent for the Tamil homeland. However, Rijwan parent disagreed with this idea as they felt that this would cause more chaos to occur.
Soon, sound of gunshots, bombs, screaming and shouting could be heard everywhere. Rijwan can never enjoy strolling with his family along the river happily again. They will be happy if they have three meals a day. As Rijwan father was going out of the house to get some food for his family, one of the Sinhalese soldiers pointed the gun at Rijwan father’s head.
"I hate all the Sinhalese," Rijwan hollered furiously," they are making our life so miserable."
Rijwan growled,"i want to take revenge for my father!"And soon, he suggested an idea to his mother.
“No! I won't let you join the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam and join them for the war.It is too dangerous to let you join the war.” Rijwan mother shouted without hesitation.
“But I wanted to help my village from the destruction and I want to revenge for my beloved father and to end the war so that we will not be that poor and back to our normal life.” Rijwan exclaimed with sad and hopeless voice and gave a sigh.
“You are my only son and I can't afford to lose you.” Rijwan mother ended the conversation by hugging him and gave him a kiss on Rijwan cheek.
The populations of the village had fallen as lots of people were dead during the gunfire. These village, once used to be filled with laughter had became silent and monotone. Rijwan had never anticipated these days. They had no choice but to leave their village behind them. “I like this place, it filled with my childhood memories. I can't bear to leave this place! "Rijwan said emotionally. But it seemed useless. Rijwan felt disappointed as he had longed for peaceful days to come. However, a few weeks the leader of the LTTE was killed.
Will this mark the arrival of peaceful days?
Or the worst has yet to come?
